Postdoctoral Programme

The School of Law, Chongqing University openned its postdoctoral programme in 2009. Since its establishment, the University has attached great importance to our postdoctoral candidates as an important aspect of our research and talent training programme. Postdoctoral researchers are to conduct a research project under the supervision of their co-supervisors during their stay, and encourages them to apply for research project funding from various sources and to publish high-level academic papers.  At present, several of our postdoctoral candidates have received funding from the Chinese Government, Chongqing Provincial Government, and have published many high-level academic articles.


Our Postdoctoral Programme

The School of Law provides a welcoming and conducive environment for postdoctoral candidates to conduct high-level legal research. This includes the necessary research platforms, a research team of supportive supervisors, and supports them in their application to research funding. All postdoctoral candidates are encouraged to participate in academic exchange at home and abroad, and to participate in our Postdoctoral Law Forum, which annually invites postdoctoral candidates from China and abroad to the School of Law for high-level academic exchange.

Our postdoctoral candidates have actively participated in or independently applied for various research projects, and have achieve remarkable research results. As of 2015, our postdoctoral candidates have been first author of more than 80 academic publications and monographs. They have undertaken approximately 30 projects of various types, including 9 national projects, 19 provincial projects, 14 others. Our postdoctoral research has also been of significance to government decision-making and policy. For example, research by GUO Liang (Postdoctoral Candidate) and QI Aimin (Professor) on intellectual property marketization was adopted by the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee’s Comprehensive Reform Group and also included in the 2014 Chongqing Science and Technology System as guidance for policy reform.


Recruitment of Postdoctoral Candidates

Postdoctoral Candidates are expected to follow relevant national and university regulations, and pay attention to the research and scientific needs of the discipline. At present, the School of Law has recruited researchers with doctoral degrees in law, as well as other subjects such as journalism, management, etc. Since its establishment, the School of Law has recruited over 30 postdoctoral researchers of various types and from various legal disciplines. The college puts forward a postdoctoral recruitment plan each year.


Postdoctoral Management

Postdoctoral Candidates conduct mid-term assessments one year after their entry to the School of Law, with further reporting each year during their term of employment. They are also required to conduct regular academic exchange with our doctoral and masters students. At the end of their term each postdoctoral candidate is assessed in terms of their research results, scientific research ability and academic level. Based upon these factors it will be determined if they are qualified. The School of Law will host an annual opening meeting to discuss these matters with all postdoctoral candidates. Postdoctoral students are also expected to meet with their supervisors in-person at least three times per semester.  


Salary and Benefits

The School of Law complies with all relevant national and university regulations. Full-time postdoctoral candidates will receive a salary, job allowance and postdoctoral subsidy that totals 100 000 RMB per year. Part of this is provided by the university (80%), with the remaining provided by the department or supervisor (20%). Postdoctoral candidates who achieve research results that go beyond their contract will receive research awards in line with university regulations. Postdoctoral candidates will receive 10 000 RMB annually in research funding. Our postdoctoral candidates are encouraged to take on teaching and research tasks, payment for which will be based upon the same standards as our full time teachers.
